Webinar Summary
Neurodiversity-Affirming practice is an approach that recognises and celebrates the natural variations in human neurocognitive functioning, and where difference is seen as normal, not disordered. For psychologists and other mental health clinicians, adopting this practice means providing therapeutic support that embraces the unique strengths of neurodivergent people and acknowledges the inherent challenges that arise from being different.
This webinar will focus on supporting clinicians to integrate Neurodiversity-Affirming principles into clinical practice with Autistic and ADHD adult clients. We will explore the importance of being aware of neurodivergence, and how screening for and identifying neurodivergence through a strengths-based lens can be transformational for our clients.
As well as helping clinicians understand how to identify neurodivergence in adults and know when to refer on for specialist assessment, there will be a focus on understanding the role of and appropriately using screening and assessment tools, such as:
